Grossi Dazzling At ChaDlpion By W.H. Spencer SAN FRANCISCO, CAL. May 11, 1969. Santa Cruz's Bob Grossi toured the recently opened Champion Speedway in tine style w1nn1ng all three 250 Senior motos for a perfect 1200 points and a special "best rider of the day" trophy. YoWlg Grossi is leaving for Europe to represent tile U.S.A. In International Motocross through the sponsorship of the Ridge Runners Motorcycle Club to which he belongs. He will start in Birmingham, England and be in Europe for two months. Champion Speedway Is now In dlscus- sion wltIl the International Motocross people for a July date. Champion'S best lap time was set by Grossi at a 1:17:01 but was tied by Dave Wortll on a Penton until the second moto when Grossi turned a 1: 16 flat. He said that five or six seconds will come ott that•• _ The most exciting moto was tile third 250 junior. With 139w, Phil Jacobsen w1nn1ng the first two motos he merely had to place third In tile final moto to win overall. While Ron Stockman, 142b, had his work cut out for him with second place finishes behind Jacobsen. Third place was held by Pete Marchand, 77c. At the drop of the flag in moto #3 Stockman went right out to the head of tile pack with Jacobsen and Marchand in hot pursuit. in lap #2 Jacobsen blew it and was all of a sudden in twelfth place ,and ailoqt 22 seconds ,QIlck.
