Cal., April 27, 1969 - Extremely slick track conditions led to fast and slippery action at the Hollister TT Sunday. This made for a pbotograpbers deligbt but was bard on the riders that bit the dust. The Soulb County M.C. did a great job of running an event that drew 245 riders and some 1500 plus spectators. Ron McGuire's wrecking crew from Ibe Monterey Bay area sbowed up and as usual cleaned bouse in the small bike class. Ron is the northern distributor of F&M reed valves, a product whicb is becoming very pOpular in northern Call!. because of its fantastic abilities. Ron Leidig, riding a reed Hodaka rode to an impressive win in Ibe 100cc novice main, after defeating Steve Hernandez in what was an extremely close race. The 100Cc Am. class was a clean sweep for McGuires bikes with the first three spots being woo by reed valve Hodakas. John Brown, undefeated this year in his class, took another win followed bY Fred Bennet. 0 Tbe 200Cc novice main was won by Santa Cruz Ridge Runner Will Cavanaugb. Cavanaugb is a consistent winner in his class and be is making it tougb on his fellow competitors. The 250 amateur main lacked its usual spicy action as there were n"o pileups and little passiug took place. Amateur Carl Triest took the lead from the start and slJ< laps later bad the win in the bag. Second place finisber Steve Wilson made a good sbowing his first time out on a new Pur8ang. The bikes stock geariug prevented him from beiug a real threat to Triest. The nations number one sportsman rider. Paul Johnson. took anolber easy win in the 250experteveJ:lt.Paulwonboth his beat and the main on his Bultaco by a large margin. He was followed by Dave Bellina and Jim Rice. Rick otto made a shambles of the 650 expert main by winning the event abead of Bob Boaz and Lance Anderson.
