Fred Nix, who didn't care for the bard, grooved track moved uP and back In the early laps, then f1na11y decided to do tblngs bis own way and got out In the loose stuff where he could throw bis big slide. It was Duane Francisco of Medford riding a Zundapp spoosored by B-C Sports out in front of the "A" Main, followed by Wes Word and Steve Hendr1ekson of Goldb1ll, Oregon. Ricky Ziegler of Cresent City, Calif. WIlo took the seuoo trophY last year In tile kids class, and was st11l ellg1ble for tile kids class tb1s year, moved \Cl to !be regular 100 class and didn't make too bad a showing. Ricky f1n1shed fourtb with his 4th gear out and the track 15 a 3rd and 4th gear show for him. The Championsbip Kid, Mike Branam of Rogue River, ore. mounted on bis Bultaeo walked off with tile 200ec Trophy of Rogue River, Ore. mounted on bis Bultaeo walked ott with the 200ec trophy dash and "A" Main. Mike is called the Championsbip Kid because he came on real strong at the end of the season last year and took botll tile Oregon State Raee In Grants Pass and the Championship raee at Sunny Valley Speedway In bis saki spOllSOred by Wally's Kawasaki of Glendale, Ore. made a good showing and crossed the line second with Dale Hall Jr. of Grants Pass on a Bultaco right behind blm. Both of these boys are sUllln b1gb school too. Wes Word, this time mounted on bis Bultaco, was again In the spotlight as be walked off with tile trophy dash In the 250 class. The "A" Main was tile most exciting raee of tile day as Duane Fransicso (Bultaeo) jumped to the lead with Dan Ginther of Medford, Steve Nasoo of Medford and Wes Word rightbehlndbim. Wes took a spill In tile first lap that let tile leaders walk off aad leave bim. Duane led tIIem for a couple of laps and tIIen Dan, riding an Ossa sponsored by Monty and MarY's Auto Sales,rotaround bim and through Duane tried to get first place back, Dan crossed the line first. Nason's Kawasaki f1n1shed a close third. Boy what a racel Bob Vaughn of Grants Pass mounted 00 bis rusty, trusty Triumph sPOIlSOred by Fred Ford Cycle, took botll the trophY dash and •'A" Main In tile open class. Mllee Lawless of Grants Pass (360 Bultaeo) took a well earned second.. and I do mean well earned beaeuse Fritz Espy of Grants Pass on a 450 Honda sponsored by Pollock's Marina pushed blm all the way around the track, every lap. Botb .rode a fine race. The sweepstakes saw Mike Branam work bis way through the 100 class to take home a ten dollar b1ll. (Results on page 20)
