After the parade lap, twins Dan and Tom WhIte, simultaneously drafted, were presented with farewell subscriptions to Cycle News so they can keep IlP with events wb1le serving Uncle Sam. Dan raced but did not finish the lOOCc Semi. In the first 250cc heat, Jack Groom, l¥2 5, lost it coming Into the straightaway and laid It down on the bank. Unfortunately, as he was recovering b1s bike, two riders climbed the blink and took Jack down for the count. Latest report from tile Jlosplta1 shows good-sized bruises but Jack's o.k. otherwise. The 350 Open Class Motos developed Into a hard baWe for first place between Alan Reed and Lance Vallery. Alan came ql with the winning points by grabbing two first and a third. Lance was able IXl hold on to one first and two seconds. The Le Mans start worked very well in sorting out the pack to the first comer using portions of the TT course then atf and IlP the bill which proved disastrous to some, and a real spectator delight. The green grass and shade trees provided lush background for the large crowd, with spectators and riders watching from every possible position. The clear sunny da:y with wind blowing briskly found the concession stand swamped selling beer, pop, and other assorted good things. With Bay Mare now open and running events at least twice a month tile riders in the valiey can ride races close in. The other riders who haven't ventured out to the ranch should as it bas something for every racer; The smooth and fast TT course, plenty of room for variations In the motocross course and Grand Prix and H1l1climb. Due to lack at complete results we are unable at press time to give due credit to the riders taking home the gold. Watch for coinJllete r,esults next week.
