At the time of this interview she had ridden in only one Dist. 37 point race in which she finished second. She loves the sport and wishes more gi r ls would get into the racing end of the sport. She plan s on racing in TT Powder Puff races every tim e she has an opportunity. - Road Captain HERB McMULL UM of the Navy City M.C. fr om Vallejo, Calif. has been r iding cycles for 26 years and has bee n an AMA member for 25. His wife, Marilyn, rides with him on long tours but is a very capable solo r ider as well . Strictly a road r iding enthusiast, Herb would naturally li ke AMA to give the tour ing cyc li s ts all the recognition that they can but was quick to add that he thinks they are doing a good job now. He expressed real pride in his AMA me mbersh ip and thinks that it it wer en't for the association, motorcycling in gene r al and tour r idi ng in parti c ular would be in bad shape. MIKE CORRIGAN , 28- year-old MIKE CORRIGAN, Vice P r es ident of the Reno Ramblers M.C. is a cyclist of diversified interests. He and his wife Vicki, who also r ides , have two H- D motorcycles and two BSAs. His mai n interest is touring or road r iding but he has a bike set up for dirt riding and enjoys ge tti ng off the pavement and is seriously cons idering ge tting in to competi tion r iding in desert events. Mike has been r iding since he was a kid but has bee n an AMA member for just three years. TOM EDWARDS of San Jose, California is the Pr esident of the 3D-member Santa Clara Cavaliers M.C. An ll-year AMA member , he has been r iding for 15years. He and his wife, Joan, r ide double and really love the sport, exclusively in the touring events. The son of Mr . and Mrs . Jay E. Richards of 6685 irwin Ave., Orovllle, Richards is a junior at Orovllle High School. He ran his first race in March of 1966 when he was just 15-years-old. He turned amateur In August, 1967, and st111 retains that classification. Althougb he is a two-stroke man, Richards rode his fi r s t s eason on a Honda 50cc . Last year be had his own Yamaha lOOcc twin, an d this year he will r ide for Drake' s Hodaka Shop on a new 100cc ma chine. Richards , whos e numbe r Is 122R, flattracks every wee k at the Cycl e- land Speedway between Orovllle and Chico . However, his real specialty is scram bling. Back- to- back with his 14 r acing trophi es, eight of them first pla ce cups, Ric hards displays a number of awards won for raising purebred Berkshire hogs . Richards is an officer in Orov1lle High's F u t u r e Farmers of America Chapter and an A student In agricultural science. As enthusiastic abo ut raising hogs as racing, Richards recently sold one of his. an imals at the Junior Grand National Lives toc k an d Horse Show In the Cow Palace in San Francisco, where he took a second place r ibbon. He also was notifie d he was the winner of a cash award for s howmanship. Beside other awards in his major, Richards received his second silver award this year from the Bank of Amer tea for his agricultural project. Richard' s short race career has tak en him as far nor th as McArthur in Shasta County and s outh , to Tracy, which is located near Stockton. He has contested at every track In between, Incl uding well known Ros evill e and at a track in a town with the unusual name of Hungry Hollow . Born Sept. 27, 2950, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Richards moved to Oro vllle with his family in September of 1960, following r e tir e me nt of his father from the U.S. Navy. His parents and his sisters, Regina and Dorothy , are en thusiastic race fans and travel with Richards to all of his races. The y all attend many races in which RichardS is not a parti cipa nt. The entire Ric hards family wor ks s lde- by-sidewlth other race enthusiasts to conti nually upgr ade the quallty and image of motor cycling and strive to pr omote the sport•. An active member of the Butte County Search and Re sc ue Team , Richards proudly states , " The only thing in the wor ld that can make me miss a race is a " cali out" by Search an d Res cue." Foll owing his graduati on fr om high sc hool, Richards plans to conti nue to raise hogs, intends to fur ther his studi es in the fie ld of agricultural science and will continue racing.
