'M T OOCROSS RULES To establish AMA Professional MotoCross. LICENSING: Moto-Cross only , $20 fee. Issued to: 1. in organized districts - Expert grade sportsman Scramblers, Desert Riders, or " A" Enduro Riders . 2. In unor ganized districts - Sportsman Scr amblers with a mini m um of 2 years experience, "A" Enduro Riders, or ex pe rienced r ider s reco mmended by District AMA ornctars. 3. Class C Amateur and Expert Licenses valid withou t additional Moto-Cross fee. CLASSES: Rid e r s , one Professional class only. Riders may enter both equipmen t classes . EQUIPMENT: 0-25OCc and 30OCc- Open. Equi pment need not be approved. Rider must use only motorcycle orIginally entered for each class. COURSE: Minimum 1/2 mil es , Maximum 1-1/ 2 mile length. Completely natural , terrain except for re moval or alteration of potentially dan gerous obs tacles. Mini mum width of 20 feet, r ecom mended width of 30 feet . Starting area r eco mmended to be off course but mu s t be a minimum width of 80 fe et for a di s tan ce of 75 yards. F e nci ng must completel y sepa rate spectators fro m access to the cours e. Recommend use of snow fence for r Ider safety. PROGRAM: Must be run rai n or s hine. Program to consist of a mi nimum of 2 hea ts, or maxim um of 3 heats for each class (0- 250cc plus 300c c - Open). Mlnlmum ti me per heat: Two-heat progr am - 30 mi nutes per heat. Three -heat program - 20 minutes per heat. In the event of mor e entries being received for a class than can be safely accom mondated on the course, the following pr ogram may be substituted for that class: 1. Entries are divided equally in to two 2G-minute, point-paying heats. 2. Half of the top placing riders, . le s s five, In each of the two 20 minute point paying heats qualifY for the final 30 minute heat. 3. Non-qualifiers r ide r an extra 10minute, non-point paying heat with the top 10 riders qualifying tor the fi nal 30-minute heat. 4. Overall final placings determined by points earned in lnlt1al two heats an d in final heat. Finish at any heat oc curs when the leading r ider completes the lap he is on after the time limit has expired. The starter i s to s ignal r iders when 5 minutes remain in the event by displaying a fiv e-minute s ign or flag as the leader passes until the leader completes the ne xt lap. The program may include a separately sanctioned sportsman program as filler for the 0-25OCc and/or 300cc - Open cia sse s ; open to non-professional sportsman riders. SCORING: Use standard AMA Sportsman Molo-Cross scoring s ys tem with ties to be broken in fa vor of the rider who places best in the last heat. PR IZES: Mlnlmum pur s e of $600 split equally between 0-25OCc and 30OCc-Open classes. Amounts to be paid based only on overall final placings in the fol lowing percentages: Ist-30%, 2od -1 6%, 3rd14%, 4th-12%, 5th- lO%, 6th- 8%, 7th- 6%, 8th-4%. NATIONAL POINT SYSTEM: To be es tablished on same basts as purse per centage breakdown above: Ist-30 points, 2nd-16 points, etc. sanction fee: $25.00 per me et.
