The course at Golden Gate Raceway was a llttle over two miles long with nine turns , a series of fas t chicanes and plenty of bumps. In spite of close dicing for the $700 Inprize money the day was free of bad spills and no one was hurt. The four-lap heat races went ottwlthout too much excitement. The surprise came just before the finish line on the last lap when KenGreen did a job on both of them to win the 175 class and overall. The 250 Maln produced the fastest time of the day but no wheel to wheel battles. Mike Lane got otf out In front and stayed there all the way. Ron Grant finIshed second atter riding hard and using every Inch ot the track In an attempt to catch Lane but the Suzuki downon power, jus t could not do the job. One of the most sldl1ful r ides ever seen around here was one by Dave Scott on the Al Fergoda Yamaha.
