Pr actic e got s tarted very late because they couldn' t get the track dri ed out quickly though durtng th e day the surface hel d up beautifully. But time had fl own, so by the tim e th e super-lightweights had r un the wr i tIng was on th e wall and the 250 class was given a vo te to see If they wanted to change to a mas s- s tar t . They so voted and th e bi g bores were run the sam e way with 12 laps for the A mateurs and E xperts and 10 laps for the Novi ces (who might have been running under the lights if the Rebel s hadn't kept an eye on things earlier In the day) . We find tha t It' s Dewayne Cr eason who did the heavy r e- surfaci ng on the track two weeks ago, an " ol d timer " from the DeA nza and Box Springs days and along wi th r e-surfacing it' s wid er in spots. Denlus pulled of f, Harlow was by the ambulance fo r repair s and Rice was still goi ng strong to win it with th e best r ace between second and third place guys, Dave L enar ( BSA) and Ray Nichols (Mateo) •••the 650 Novice and last rac e of the day went to Ron Boule ( T r i ump h) but Gary McKeon and F reddie Gorley had a good one going for a bit and th en F red li ter ally ran out of gas .
