Mark Kruse, was not able to handle Wayn e Hosaka on his Hodaka, Wayne won th e I O cc Trophy O Dash and th e Maln Event and repeated the same thing i n the I O Occ 'IT events , winning both the Dash and Maln. 10 the 100cc short track f eature, Wayne was leading and in . hot pursuit was Mark Kruse. closely rouowed by Keith Mashburn and Ji m my Raym ond , Mark had a mishap and unloaded, m oving Keith Into second place and Ji m my into third. For the rema i ning five laps, Wayne was not conte s ted , In the 250cc fiattrack Trophy Dash, r eturni ng to th e winner s' circle was Stan Rogers. Stan was abl e to also win the Maln Event. F ollowing closely was little Mar k Kruse on a Ducati , This was Mark's second oppor tuni ty to co mpete on anything bigger than a 100cc machine and he showed real pr omise by beating out top point l eader Randy Ellis f or second spot . To the delight of the fans, the Open Trophy Dash went to Jim Peter s on on a Tri umph. but Jim wasn 't qui te as fast in the Main Event when Dave L enar on his BSA grabbed the win wi th Jim finishing a close second. Protest Time In the 250cc 'IT Trophy Dash. Ron Ringen on a Kawasaki was able to walk away with the trophy . Ron didn't have su ch good luck in the Main however. and Kei th Mashburn on a Yam aha came through to capture the win . The r e was so much discussion about how fast Wayne Hosaka' s Hodaka was that a f ew of the 100cc r ider s got together in th e pits and decided it wouid be worth the protes t fee to find out what it l ooked like i nside, So. i m mediately foll owi ng the races, at the r equest of the Te chnical Committee. Wayne r em oved th e head of his Hodaka, and to the surprise of many, his engine was found to have a stock bore and stroke! The owner and tuner of the Hodaka not only has f ound him self a fine rider. but has found the secret of making the Hodaka-s engine perform to i ts maximu m . Mark Kruse said he was goi ng home and do som e wor k on his Bultaco and beat Wayne next Wednesday night.
