This is a type of racing that hasn't been seen for many years until it was started a few saturday nights ago at Whiteman Stadium In P,jLcoimaand i s experiencing a loyal following of both fans and competitors. • This week has seen the installation of new grandstands at Trojan and the laying down on the track of a thick cushion of rock dust to provide the machines with the correct surface for the fabulous controlled slides that are the backbone of this type of racing. There will be a practice session this Sunday from 2:00 i).m. to 4:00 p.rn.; the gates will open for the racing at 5:00 p.m, and the program will commence at 7:00 p.m. The riders will be running for a 40% slice of the front gate plus a 40% of the pit gate atter the insurance fee has been paid. Admission will be $2.50 for adults, $1.50 for Juniors while the tykes will be admitted free. A bit of advice is to get there early for a choice seat. To reach the track, take the Firestone Blvd. East off-ramp from the Long Beach Freeway, go to the first tratflc light ' (which is Garfield), turn right and go to the first s top sign, Southern. Turn right on Southern, go to the track entrance. ~ 8 z d Scott Sails ... @ s s s l'l ~ i tool 0: r EUGENE, ore., July 18 - A total of 42 r iders turned out tonight for this, the last of our Thursday night sportsman TT races.
