Hart, managerdirector of Lions Drag Strip, for a special inter-club drag meet that took place on Sunday, July 7, with nearly 100 racers entered. Ninety percent of the entries were Harley-Davidson owners and many had hauled their racing steeds over 400 miles to try their hand at quarter-mile acceleration. Early McGraw and Walter Murray were the real heroes after defeating all Sportster riders; such heroes, In fact, that the spectators lifted McGraw on their shoulders and paraded him all through the dragster staging area. Murray Is the 'owner and tuner of the 1966 Harley Sportster that clocked a best quarter-mUe run of 13.26 seconds at 98..mUes per hour.
