" Both he and Nilsson didn 't care for the dust and you can bet no one el se did ei ther. In spite of deter mined effor ts to k eep sec tions watered down it got bad. A s Nilsson told us " When it gets like that I slow down. I like to see where 1'm goi ng." Bu t i n the winter that course is goi ng to be gr eat . The day ended wi th the purse and trophy presentation and ev eryone went home happy . We can't wal t now for th e next I nternational . Hallman said he wants to bri ng about ten with him next ti me, ineluding two of the Russians, so l ocal r i ders, l et ' s doubl e up on our homework! It's starting to show fruit. We di dn' t get so badly bash ed about a bit this year as we did two years ago when Hallman flrst cam e over here. M ulder probably wouldn't have suffered qul te as much damage; still he finished the r ound, but with a little f inger that Iooked br oken and som e damage to the bones fu r ther up i nto the hand and he was unable to make the second round. This left Nelson blazing away up front and not looking around to see if anyone was com Ing, Hallman started after him 13 seconds behind and lap after lap knocked 3 seconds off! Steve Scott (Bultaco) had a good race wi th Nilsson until Steve just plain ran out of st eam . Chuck Minert also took on the Swedish r i der with Bruce Jackson (Greeves) wi thin shooting distan ce. A t the blue !lag Hallman finally nai l ed Ronni e and went on to the win. Second round Nelson again flew into the lead and held it for a lap and a half wi th his Montesa showing mor e steam in cer tain sections of the course than Hallman' s Husky but finally Hallman passed him on one of the downhill of f- camber section and Ron fell I n behi nd him. These two, however , st ill r emained way ahead of the r est of the r i ders who wer e pr obably having more fun behind! Over all r esults found Hallman the winner, Nelson secon d, Chuck Minert ( BSA) thi r d, L ars L arsson on a Husky that maybe could have been Hall man' s 250 ending fourth, Bill Nilsson f ifth and an "independent " Montes a r i dden by Don McCarley fifth. As the Eur opeans didn' t r eceive prize money , our l ocal r i ders did ver y well! Open Juni or class went to Maico r i der Jeff Willis; he beat out Ed Walker (Triumph) who had done so well the Sunday before over the same course .
