During intermission, s o m e ot the riders let ott a li ttle steam by participating in a wheelle contes t. The over21-year- old winner In this contest was J erry Solum on a 250cc Yamaha. The under-21 winner was Mike Hannula on a 98cc Yamaha. . It was still any man's race as they went into the t1nals, with the ttrst tew rider s In each class s witching back an d torth tor the top spot. Honda-mounted Jerry Kouvo took the A Main, Joel Me Nell y ( Bultaco) grabbed B Main honor s , and Triumph rider Bill Elder came out on top in the C Main.
