He r ode F ritz caught and went by Ken, leaving hard but Russell had too m uch of a lead W1l1ingham in third . He was now out to on him and Soy crossed the ltne in second place followed by Hall. I n spite of numer ous difficulties, ev eryone enjoye d a ful l evening of racing. The main th orn I n the night' s events was the l ocal radio station announcing that Or ange County Ra ceway ( the drag and r oad racing track down the road about 2 miles) would not be running. L ots of peop l e mi s understood and thought the speedway was shut down, Includi ng riders as well as spectators. Something will have to be done to better identify th e two tracks . Then, too, It rained Friday mor ning and l ooked like It would continue, so all things considered, the pr ogram was a good one. ACA road racer Dan Osbor ne cut his teeth for the first time on the speedway NEW! CAR MOUNTED CARRIER WRITE: GarNoCo Box 243, Novato,.Calif. aboard a JAP racer, highlighting th e action by giving the crowd an exciting eXhibition. The 100cc Main Event was plagued with mechan ical troubles. For exa mpl e Mike Lane's Hodaka blew up r ight on th~ starting line. Chuck Saxton (Honda) came througb for th e win ahea d of Yamahamounted Charlie Ander son. The 250Cc heat, Trophy Dash and Main Event turned out to be a clean sweep f or Randy Ellis on the very potent Honda that Shorly Seabourne rode last year at the Long Beach indoor track. F or winning the Trophy Dash, Ellis got to kiss w!lat I personally thought was one of the cutest trophy gir l s to come along I n a long time. She was young, sweet, innocent and on and on - and I'm keeping her name and address a secret f or myseU . Then he moved out against the bigger machines to take the Trophy Dash in the 500cc class . El der went into the 500cc A Main ridIng hard, but challenged strongly by Ken Hart on a 250Cc Yamaha. Bli led the f ield up to the last two laps; then bad luck overtook him and he dropped out of the race with a broken chain. On the next lap Hart was s idelined with engine trouble. ThIs left the third place man Jerry Kouvo, to win the 500cc A Main Event. Kuovo also moved up one class to r ide his Honda in the Open Class. He took second place in that one, behind Triumphmounted Doyle McNett, who had earlier won the Open Class Trophy Dash.
