sponsored and set up for them by Long
Beach Honda. They completed the 711
miles of r ough terrain 10 22 hours and
5 minutes. Bergquist fin1shed the first
loop of the race with Preston tak1ng over
f or the second time around.
All vehicles were team rac1ng, with
an unfair advantage given to the fourwheel ve hicles as they were allowed to
change drivers at any gas or check polot;
however, the motorcycles were allowed
only to change at the Stardust Raceway
wb1ch was the half way mark at the end
of the first loop. When we asked the
NORRA off1ce to explatn this rule they
did not know the reuon and had received
compla1nts from several of the motorcycle racers.
True, the motorcycles can move
across the desert at a faster speed and
with more ease, but Is th1s reason
enough to pean11ze the riders ? This rule
