He got the third. Danny Or tega on a Greeves did it i n the 250 Novice class. He won the first two rounds then got a bad start i n the third and was way back . By the second la p he was up to thir d and held it because wi th two wins all y ou need i s a third to bring home the bacon. Three other ma jo r brands were also i n ther e and hoUy cont ending, Carl Cotton ( Yam ah) Tom Gr ant (Husky) and Tom Harrington(Bultac o) but this time it was the Gr eeves that tri umphed. And a bi g pat on the back to everyone who r ode that r ace includi ng the poor 250 Novice class••• they didn' t know the mudhole was f11led with water while they wer e in the staging area and when they cam e around it was to !ind the Catalina Channel staring them in the face but most of them survived ••• and a pat again for the Ramblers •••this was a !irst and it was a good one and you can bet it won't be a last. None of us could believe our eyes at John coming down the htll, through the mud hole and up the steep hi ll wi th one hand on the thro W e and the other clutching the crossbar! Th e 250 Am ateurs and Experts ran together and Husky r i der Russ Darnel~ ran away with the class.
