First place contenders In the double duel were Gary Bailey and Phil Wood, while third place was foughttor bY Tom Rapp and Steve Paul. The event consisted of three halt-hour races with a break between for r epairs. The course was one of mud, hills, and rocks . There were only a few muddy spots, but atter two hard r aces, air just s erved to dry the mud clingin g to them . two could be seen pouring on the gas pulli ng for third. Rapp wonthe firs t battle for the pos ition. In the second r ace Steve Paul acquired the poslUon, and Rapp took It from a tiring Paul In the last race. Inci dently, W alt Bird was 5th In every race.
