A good-sized group of 80 or so r id ers , wives and friends made it to the track in weather that was coo l but not uncomfortable. The progr am lasted until 11 or so an d ran off very well with no injuries an d very few falls. In the way 01 a back r eport, due to a hard fall last week, Las Vegan Chuck Hatcher was trackside sp ectating thi s week. Chuck also came down to pick up the trophy he won last week for Open Exper t . Chuck is the Neva da State Champ but says he likes the Els inor e Scrambles as well as any. Gary Bailey stopped by for a workout on a very s trong 360 Greeves and gav e it a good ride as usual. Gary digs moto-cross the most and was on his way to a race on Sunday. Of Interest is that L. Divis, ag ed 12, has started working out on a 250 Greeves by ridiug in the races. Divis got his Hodaka running well enough to win one heat and jumped from that to the Greeves for practice. That's a big bike, Didl Dale Hopkins and K. Tennis put on the usual battle for the honors in the 100 Novice with C. Smith on a Yamaha mi xing It up too . D. Hopkins rides Elsi nor e every Saturday night, then goes to Brand X Scr am bles on Sunda y an d probably has more s uppor ter s than anyo ne here . K. Ellis did a good job in jus t about every r ace and was chased all night by r iders like P . Moffa tt an d Soder s trom on a Bultaco, Ellis did not ge t a good s tart in the Sweepstakes but very ga mely rode anyway. Tom Simpson di d th e job as us ual in Ope n Expert on a Triump h that has BEANS. Tom r ode hard in the Sweep stakes to overtake Nicho ls on the Honda but the advantage was too grea t, especially s ince the sweeps were run backwards.
