was the only rider who seemed to find
the San Jose in door tra ck conditions to
his I rk i ng and his bi ke seemed to be i n
perfect tun e. Th e shor t track has been
used eac h Sat urday even i ng fo r indoor
m idgets and had an unus ual am ount of
stick-y rubber laid down. Th e f ront wheels
of the bikes wer e lifting in th e t urns
as soon as th e riders t ouch ed the throttles which caused a l ot of spills r esulting
from th e handling proble ms .
The outcom e was that alm ost eve ry
race f ound a new or seldom- up-front
runner in th e lead. Most of th e hot shoes
just couldn't get going. Jay Kanemoto
won his heat In very ni ce sty le and kind
of r edeem ed him self after being dis qualified last week . Don Cas tro, the
Novice point l eader from Hollister, falled to make the Main for the se cond
week I n a row. Jerry Cl ark won his heat
but onl y three riders wer e still up at the
checker . One of only two di sag r eem ents
cam e when Jerry was announced third in
the heat. Th e spe ctators came on l oud
