Skip Clark' s Cycle Cente r presented Its 3r d annual Enduro-Poker Run and Treasure Hunt near Tehachapi , Califor nia on Sunday, Feb. 18. Wltll42 trophi es, souyenir pins, and prizes tile run attracted close to 200 entries which Is not too bad for a non-competition event such as this. Bikes ranging fr om 50c c trail to 650cc desert rigs were In eviden ce. Many entrants traveled good distances to make tile run. Some Santa Barbari Police officers cancelled their plans to e nte r an Enduro up at San Luis Obi spo, Callf. to come down and have a good time a t the Bean Canyon s i te. The officers wer e mounted on those highiy competl tlve Fas t- ass Sumblchl 10Dec motorcycles . The area picked for this annual event is absolute ly pe rfect In eve ry sense of the word . Many hundreds of trails lace the v a r i e d co untrys ide. The Enduro " Loop" as it is called by die-hard Bean -Canyonites was changed slightly by Skip and the crews prior to the run an d it was a good chan ge . The Loop ts appr oxima te ly 25 miles long and takes the r ider from the desert floor up into the cool, fr agr an t pines near the cr e s t of the range . I3~-lO Rutgers .. \l' . \ f)o .. n..v, ('alif. 902 ~2 After the Enduro ended the best hands were ac cumulated, with P ete God trey' s hand co ming in on top, Pe te ' s winning han d was a full house with thre e jacks and two fours . After the Enduro- Poker Run, a Treasure Hunt was held In a box canyon about 150 ya rds from the pits. Hidden in small cans were slips of paper with the prize you would receive and these were scattered allover the floor of the canyon. Prtzes included Sta-Lube oil, hand cleaner, and grease gun " . Also Included as consolation prizes In the Enduro were goggles, sweatsnirts, spark plugs, and Granturlsmo grips. It was plain to see that everyone was haVing a good time, even the non-winners.
