Silent drop-outs and vocal resignations have plagued the Southern Calltorn1a Road Riders Committee as that
organ1zat1on's membership has falled to
grow with the sport and actually decreased in number.
Motorcycle clubs have always come
and gone. In recent years, however, a
number ot road clubs have co me and
stayed. Some have joined the RRC and
dropped out, others justbaven'tbothered
with the organization.
n.e Too-Tired Motorcycle Cl ub became one of the latest clubs to forego
what the club's founde r lermed, " Th e
dubious pleasures of membership In the
RRC. " Nell Butts, a past chairman ( ' 65)
ot the RRC added, "Basically, the RRC
otfers a member club only one servicaa place on the annual calendar. As our
group doe s not promote a run, there Is
no advantage to belonging. We don 't care
to engage In extended arguments over
small matters while Issues vital to the
sport are totally ignored: '
Harley Rathbun , one of the men who
originally conceived the idea of the RRC
stated, .. We joined the RRC to do what
we could to better the sport r emain
ac tiv e , and help the organ ization progre ss. It klnda hurts though when the
