He will make a mint. steam starting to build up out this way for the National indoor races at the Houston Astrodome in February. Just about every top rider who has ever turned left is plann1ng on racing the $6,000 offering in the Lone Star State. This one will be on a dirt track but will be pointed rather than an ovall1ke most dirt tracks. The Astrodome is awesome to say the least. It remains to be seen 11 the survivors of the Alamo will turn out in force to see the top pros ply their trade in the first National of the new season. Any new riders for '68 who plan on racing in tile Novice class should get out the pen and stamp and get a letter of lIPplication off to the AMA for the proper forms as tile new year is just around the corner. The first TI at Ascot goes on the first Sunday in February and follnws a raft of January indoor events. • Bart Will Be Back... People bave been asking lately 11 Bart Markel will be back in the saddle next season. The answer 15 a big, Yes. The Michigan fence-buster was having a streak of bad luck towards tile end of last season and w1sely decided to take a vacation. The last time Bart did this same thing he came back stronger than ever and grabbed off the National point title. We mentioned a few weeks ago how much H-D was planning on going all out to regain the number one spot in '68.
