ELSINORE AT NIGHT .. i ell < Bultaco and ShtDault 00 a Huslly. This was very rooMed competition In that these three makes of bikes could be compared as to power, band11ug, top end, etc. BaUey's Greaves seemed to be In the middle tor torque with Taylor's Bultaco better on the top end and the Hus!l;y of ShInault's was a cross between the two. AI Elsinore however, the rider probably means more than any ot these things. Anyway, BaUey won bis first beat and the Main which gave bim the trophy. Eric Olesen gave good battle though, as be charged real bard to win one heat and get second In the tlnal. This Main was really a thriller as It tonk about three tries to start it and Bailey took the lead right away and was cbased all the way to the wire. Olesen would cateb Bailey at the end ot each fast section, but BaIley rode well and used bis available torque to good advantage. T. LongwIth chased along all night tor a good ride on a fast Greeves tor third place. In the Novice section a surprise was to see a Honda become very competitive In this class, ably ridden by D. Anderson to a solid 2nd. This Honda Is being very well tuned by W.K. Dibble, who also rides a mean Honda bimself. These two away trom E. Shinault's very solid Husqvarna win In this division and G. Lane's well-earned 3rd place on a Bultaco. 350-500 Bash Once again the 350- 500 BExperts had to ride together which In this reporter's estimation adds a lot of Interest to the races, as It gives the 350 riders acbance to ride against somewba.t faster competition. J. Kato on a BSA Victor did the job on this night but not without some argument trom riders like D. Hensley on a Honda. Dean bas switched trom a Mootesa to the heavier macbine but bas made the transition well. This Is one ot the most powerful sounding Hondas heard here. R. Prettyman won a solid 2nd In this class by riding steadily and consistentlY. L. Taylor tonk Srd In a class that was marked by as many as 4 restarts, not trom talls, but trom jumping the gun. Riders froIn all classes awalla practice lUnl. A-a til-. ... K.llIIllullllum (4a) IlId TOil Wa... (Ina). By Don Wallen A near-perfect scrambles came oft great as 150 readY, willing and able riders, friends, wives, kids, etc. made It to Elsinore again on Sat. night, Oct. 14, tor a total ot 41 events, In this case In unmarred safety. This week's regular Saturday night races resumed after the first Grlpsters point meet last week. Of Interest to all Is that there will be special events In the future at Elsinore, and that's all that can be said now but keep looking tor an announcement In Cycle Newsl Middle Motor Novices The 350 class was good and Is just about always all Hondas, whleb Is okay, but I wonder If some of the guys ha" thought, "Lets break up the monotODy. How woul
