Just prior to a t1na1 race for top bike between Don Barris and Joe smtih, respectively Triumph and Barleymounted, a race accident brougbt the action to a halt. Boris Murray, the pit director, raced a hard decIs10n on wbere or how to spllt the purse evenly between the two reIDll1n1ng contenders. Prior to the C1nal, Smith's Barley-DIlndson had traveled the qurter in 10.83 seconds. Don Barris took the Triumph on a rapid ride at 11.02 seconds. Since only two contenders were in position Cor tile ;rr. purse, It was decided to stage a two out of three match race. Jerry Nance on his 650Cc Triumph was a one round w1DDer and steve Rowles' 250cc SuzuId had scored one. Each bike had turned an identical 12.18 second E. T. Alas, we shall never see the winner, Cor this race was also kept from completion due to the accident. Maybe next week Jerry and steve will run the ftnsJ, or possthly they are COIItent with speculation. Orange CODDty Everything looked okay; a couple of the N.a1 Ra_, 1......1. IIKl .. Bruce's 55-inch sPortster SUper bike, recorded a best run of 10.96 seconds and 120.64 mUes per hour. It's remarkahle how close It is between AA and B street bIkea, botb stock and mod1f1ed.
