J.N. Roberts won apln SuIldaJ.
The first five miles looked l1ke it could
be anyone's race, with four riders real'Y
going all out to take the lead: Roberts;
Mike Patrick, #4 on a Norton; Howard
Beach, #33 on a TrIumph sponsored by
Mark Alge, a real motorcycle fan and
steve Hurd, #35 on bis Matchless.
With all tbls pressure, something bad

UP daisies with bis boney shoulder, just
as Patrick ran into mechanical problems.
J.N. took asolld bold on f1rstplace at this
point, and Hurd set bis sights on Roberts
from the second spot positioo. Larry
Bergquist, 117 on his B.S.A. was holding
down third, and Bob Belt (Greeves) WILS
the front-running 250. 'I1Iis 1I'lUI . . . 1M!'
they came tbrougb the pits at the end
of the first loop,
On the secood and last loop, Roberts
had built UP a good lead over Hurd, who
was moving out well in second. Bergquist
was still planted in third, and James
Martino #8 on a BSA and Ron Fry, #38
on a 360 Husky, were fighting It out for
fourth spot. Warren Siegfried, #49 and
Jeff Foster, 362, both ()pen Amateurs,
were having a real ball trying to decide
