Silvey ShODe
If one rider can be singled out
for outstanding performance. it must
be Novice Champion for 1967 at
Graham. Dale Silvey of Auburn. This
young charger was last off the line
when another rider's bike hit his at
the start and he went into the first
turn fully twentY' yards behind the
pack. Riding like the proverbial
white torando, passing both on the
inside and the out, Silvey dove into
nearly non-existent holes and by lap
12. he was in the lead and for the
last three laps, it was clear sailing
to the checkered flag.
Cappy Skeen of Kirkland was
second, closely followed by Steve
Holton of Sumner and Jerry Shirley
of Tacoma. It was a fitting climax
to a thrilling nineteen weeks of professional racing at Graham Speedway. With the season·officially over.
May, 1968. when racing resumes.
seems like a long, long. time in the
future.
