saturday night in Hayward means
only one thing - Hayward Speedway
- for a Sportsman TT on one of the
best tracks anywhere. No ho-hum
heat races here. If you want to transfer to the main. you better fly!
The August 19th show was put on
by the H.M.C. Jr. Club under Babe
Paladini. and the officials ran it off
like clockwork. Especially impressive was the starter; he's fair, positi ve and a bom.showman. When he
starts a race it is with no mistakes
or • fudging." And in a style all his
own.
In the 250 Expert Main Mark
Brelsford both won. and set a shortli ved one-lap record of 19 seconds
flat. The 500 Expert Main was the
highlight of the evening with the

from the hospital. He had an appendectomy two weeks ago. Riding a
beautiful race. Dave t.ook first place
and set a new track record of 18
seconds flat.
The 650 Expert Mr.in was the
fastest race ever held at Hayward.
with Jim Rice touring the course at
18.00 seconds for three consecutive
laps. almost another lap record.
The only mishap of the night occurred in the 500 Novice heat near
the finish line. when Louis Grabbe
went down, losing several teeth.
Ouch!
On september 7th the season high
point trophy is to be awarded. We
understand it stands 7 feet tall.
Sounds like another record for Hayward Speedway.
