The nation's leading. ,Amateur clocked the second fastest time trial with only two laps of practice, won his heat race and then captured his third straight .Amateur win on the national trail. He led the early laps of the Final before being passed by Earl Lout. Lout, the Louisville winner in June. came on strong to take the lead only to drop out with a dead engine late in the race. Odom was sponsored by Fred Nix, Lout by Dud Perkins. Fast time Amateur honors went to Roger Goldthwaite on his Enfield single ahd then the surprising young man. who was riding in his first mile event. came back strong to finish second in the Final to Odom.
