Midge was protested for runninj1; an illegal machine. Since he did not contest/he forfeited his winnings (he also won the Main and came in third in the Trophy Dash) and faces the possibility of losing his license. George Omo was neck and neck with Don Harmes in this event but couldn't quite squeeze in to take it. Don won with a time of 1:3 3:93 for the three laps. Third and fourth went to George Omo and Mike Spitzer. (before the protest) Kawasaki-mounted Steve Pederson. who placed second to Midge Griffith by a tire width. was awarded first. Jack Wilkson was moved up to second and Jerry Peters was moved up to third. Don Harmes was originally in second place for a.- short while but dropped way back (to finisb lOth?) George Omo bad been follOWing him in third place but was forced to drop out when be developed engin trouble.
