First race on the 18-event card is at 8:15 p.m. There has been unusual intensity of competition to date at the 183rd and Vermont Avenue course. with five different winners in the seven meets held. The latest was Chuck Jones of Arcadia, who made it to the winner's circle at Ascot for the first time in his career. The win boosted Jones into fourth in the seasonal standings. sammy Tanner, the veteran from Long Beach, is in the unaccustomed third position, while Ralph White is in fifth place.
