Up at Tulare last Saturday nigbt, Swede Savage finally got a good ride on one of Mert Lawwill's HarleyDavidson's and broke track records all over tbe place before getting boxed in in the Final and taking tbird. •.• And Disasters Bad luck for Butch Corder, king of the indoor races. Butcb moving south this year to try and get in on more racing and entered at Car Isbad to get some road racing experience. He took a nasty spill in practice and it looks like he is out for the rest of the season. Another setback for all indoor riders. The June lOtb and May 20th indoor events at San Diego were cancelled by promoter J.C. Agajanian. Overall costs are too high on the arena. Protest The excitement of the evening came wben Ken Jones, Blood Bank Chairman, presented a protest on behalf of another rider who rode from sacramento to the SPring Tour.' The referees had ignored the RRC Supplemental Rules and chose the long distance winner by the contestant's vocal declaration of the miles ridden ratber than by the registration forms as the rules specify. Referee J.M. Jones states that as it was his decision initially to give the L.D. award. he would not reverse it and the protestor had just lost $10. Emotions flared on both sides and the issue still bangs.
