The Honda 450cc racer won its
first class road race in America
when Clyde Litch bested Bruce Holland on a 500cc Triumph.
Jim Deehan took the 250cc honors
aboard a Kawasaki samurai, passing
Tucson's Yogi Mariscal and steve
Pederson.
In the under 250cc classes, Dave
Damron again came uP as the winner
in the 200cc division on a Suzuki
with Larry SChoenfelder winning
125cc honors on a Honda. Tony
Nicosia on a Honda 50, bested Skip
Talbot for 50cc victory.
In the production lightweight divisions for street-equippedmachines,
it was Jerry Redden on a Suzuki,
over Yamaha-mounted Tony Denius
and Bultaco rider Jim Davis.
Jim Damron won the 200cc production class on a Suzuki 200, with
Roger Baeder the winner in the 100cc
class on a Kawasaki. Larry Singer
was again the winner of the street
50cc class on a Mondial.
Perfect racing weather greeted
the riders. Many machines suffered
due to the warm weather and were
out of the running in practice or in
the early heat races.

Bad Luck for Corder, Haaby
TlYing road racing for the second
time was Butch Corder. Butch got
on the front brake too hard in practice and was pitched off his 500cc
Triumph and hospitalized with a
cracked neck and damaged elbow.
Dan Haaby again had his usual
bad luck at road racing events and
was out of the running with oil pump
problems on his BSA 500.
Chuck Sedgewick blew his engine in practice, streaming oil over
much of the course. Right behind
came two other riders who hit the
slick and fell. Both walked a way as
Sedgewick pushed his bike back to
the pits.
Arizona's Yogi Mariscal rode his
second road race on a Yamaha 250
and led many of the veterans much
of the race before missing a turn.
He is one of the best looking lightweight prospects to come along in
many a year.
