To be eligible, contest entries need be postmarked before May 21, 1967 The first twin bill of motorcycle racing of the 1967 season is scheduled at Ascot Park Friday and Saturday evenings (May 5-6). Flat-track action is set for Friday, with the steeplechasers holding their first after-dark meet on Saturday. The two shows will bring mOre than 250 riders into action. The flat-track race is held on the speedy half-mil~ oval, while the jumpers handle a twisty five-eights-mile course wi th a big jump in front of the grandstand. sammy Tanner, who is fast closing in on lbe all-time motorcycle win record held by Al Gunter, is rated the man to beat in Friday's competition. Skip Van Leeuwen. winner of the recent 100 lap 'IT race. holds a similar spot for the Saturday card. Tanner will have to contend with the likes of AI Gunter, Mel Lacher, Gene Romero.
