Tele hone (415 237-4774 The 125 Amateurs were as always a real ball to watch with Lakin Gabbert #2 on a Yamaha 100 Twin finishing first and #24 Brian Ross on a Bridgestone 90 second, with #4 Dave Isley on a Yamaha 100 Single filing in third place. Here are the results of the 125 Expert class: Jim Halford #7 took first, Tom Halford #9 took second and #198 Harold Phelps took third on his Yamaba 125. I might mention that for riding expert class. tbese two Halford Brotbers, neither of wbich is over 16 years old, ride pretty dam good. Also the 125 winners of the expert and amateur classes were all from Phoenix. The -250 terrors," or amateurs, were somewbat one-sided as '11 David Battershall, better known around Tucson as David Montesa, made it a runaway for all three races. Anotber notable who gave' it the old college try was #15 Jim Parker on a Husqvarna. This was Jim's first race and he took third. In the 250 Experts there was another Halford brotber, if you can believe it. John Halford is a very impressive rider. He rides Ducati #120. The coast's fastest 250 expert, Keith Mashburn I4x on a Greeves did a real fine job. They finIshed: first-John Halford #120 on a Ducati. second-Keith Mash burn #4x 00 a Greeves, and third-Carl Patrick, also from California, riding 'Ix on a Bultaco. A well known Phoenix lad took first, #2 Lakin Gabbert on a 100 Yamaba, second was Brian Ross on a Bridgestone, and third-Tan Halford on a 100 Yamaha.
