A very large field of lightweight riders were out. and judging from tbe large num ber of late am vals there were quite a few racers from the outlying areas. John Rice, Husky mounted. came back after a long absence to win his heats and the Main, plus the Swee~ stakes. His three 250 Expert races were marked by T. Donaher running very close behind. Each time they would go into a turn. Donaber would catch uP. then coming out. John's Husky would pull away. At one time in the 2nd heat, Donaher pulled up shoulder to shoulder with John gOing over one of Elsinore's more violent bills with both bikes' front wheels in space. Very hard riding indeed. Donaher says there's no way to get by inside. John rides so close to the tires. SO he was forced to try the hard way on the 0 utsid e! RACING APLENTY A fact that is of note is the large number of riders coming out and riding two and three different classes. for those of us who can't get enough racing. this solves the problem. A few of our dual and triple class riders are P. Coberly, T. Donaher, S. Rogers, Jim Hart, Dave Lenar, Louis Wolf and M. HarPer on occasion. Looks pretty rough in the stiff, bruise and sore department but it's very jlood practice. 100 NOVICE MAIN Off to one of tbe cleanest starts we have seen here for 14 bikes abreast! Burkert on a Hodaka took the lead. followed close by D. Aldana on a Suzuki and F. Edwards Honda mounted. The big race was for 2nd place but did not develop until the next to the last laP when D. Aldana closed right up on F. Edwards and nipped by for tbe 2nd place with Burkert in first. ELSINORE NI GUT OWLS Due to an extended program, the racing program did not finish until qui te late. (Results on p. 16)
