A strong field of 90 riders with wives, friends and spectators were in attendance. The issue of staying dry all night was in doubt when at one point the rain fell. Owner T. Paschal was heard to say, "It will be the third Elsinore Mud Scrambles." BSA IN FORCE The larger classes were well raced and represented quite a covey of BSA riders, like Clutch Cargo on a new 441 single, which handily won the 500 Expert mota. D. Ogilvie followed on a BSA and R. Jarrett. Honda mounted. In the Open Novice Mota it was D. Brooks on a BSA in first, with D. Finley, Triumph mounted, in second and L. Mitchell also on a Triumph in third. Ron Stinnett, who normally wins his share of races easy, had to watch the action this night. when a small Part broke. In the 500 Novice Mota, D. Brooks on a BSA had to fight off L. wolf. BSA and J. Smith on a Matchless, and fight he did! Other BSA riders this night were Bill Brown on a 441 Victor who has not been riding in races for quite a time and came out for some play. Last but not least was the popular Whitey Harper on a BSA who won the Open Expert 1 st heat. miles round trip to the Elsinore Scrambles seems to this writer highly unlikely. Bill Martin of Hawthorne, Nevada, currently serving in the Air Force, came out two times this month. Bill rides in desert enduros and recently he and his sevenyear-old son participated in a 100 mile Desert Enduro. . NEVADA RIDER Part of Saturday nleht's whoop-de-doo at Elsinore. The likelihood of anyone driving 600 SMALL BIKE BASH In the 100 Novice Main it was a very tough race for first, between J. Meriscal on a Honda and D. Aldana on a Suzuki. At no time was there two lengths difference between them. with J. Gilchrist Yamaha mounted running third. In the 100 Expert Main, Stan Rogers on a Honda who is referred to by his fellow riders as the "Hardest charger around," took home the bacon with J. Meriscal and S. Jones on Hodakas following. The 200 Expert Mota was also won by Stan Rogers on his Bul taco this time followed by F. Warren and W. Bolton. In the 250 Expert Main it was D. Russell, Montesa mounted. taking home the win followed by T. Danaher on a Bultaco with W. Hill on a Montesa in third.
