-FUNNY BIKES· NO. IN FASHION - B8A Draft Finl Blood BSA Is really coming out in grand fashion when it is represented Iu' a machine that Is tuned to 11 second runs Qy Bob Sirkegian. The Fnnny Bikes are something we looked for since some time ago and this weekend gave them to us in a fine race. Jim Cook and BlOis Murray bad brought along their 650cc Bonneville to relieve the matcb race tensioDS. It only brought on more anxiety. for tbey found themselves matcbed witb Sirkegian's BSA Gold Star. Pure stock; lights, license, born, the wbole ball of wax. Witb the only idfference in ninety per cent nitro instead of supreme pUmp gas. Bob bad made runs in the low 12 second area and Jim had not broken below 12.50. It was now that Triumpb needed· sometbing extra and wben the two were staged for a race. we found there was something. but it was witb Sirkegian! Bob took the race with a tire burning 11.75 seconds and 120.80 miles per hour! Footbill Cycle Center will sure bum some midnight Castrol as they prepare for the next Funny Bike matcb. FINAL MATCH RACE: Even though Perry and· Scotty bad been sbllt down two in a row. they were anxious for a third chance to prove that the old ·Stagefrigbt· still had tbe winners streak that carried it to many a victory. Spectators leaned to the fence and as seems to be tbe bllJDan trait. all wishes for good luck s~med to center on underdog Perry as the double followed Murray & Cook to tbe starting line. Hope and good wisbes just don't produce borsepower and tbe ·Stagefrigbt- was one half second bebind as Jim Cook led througb tbe quarter mile traPs at 10.45 seconds, with 150.50 for"speed. Anotber Imot in the king's robe to Murray & Cook and Foothill Cycle Center of Upland. Calif. Long Live tbe Kings! Coming Attraction Next weekend, lrwindale raceway will be closed as tbe N.H.R.A. Winternationals are held. Unfortunately mkes are not welcome and we must look for other competitive sPOrts.
