JACK RABBITS TRAIL-BIKE RUN (Results will appear in Cycle tbe trail bike course. I turned around to ask tbe guy at the check whicb way to go. and too k off again. I guess tbe Morgan brothers. who were running about 10 feet apart (how's that for togetherness?) got off on the wrong trail too. because abou t 2 miles later-up they came to pass me again. Jack Morgan led it into tbe pits witb Frank right beside him. Tbe second time around. we were right up with the leaders in tbe big bike class (but only because we took the sborter route.) and I dropped into tbe narrow. banked sand Racer Report By Dick Wligbt Tbe Jack Rabbits dropped tbe banner for the trail bikes 10 minutes after the start of tbe big bikes. to go two 2O-mile loops. Al Balter. '21 on a Hodalta. led it to the smoke bomb. after wbicb tbe course dropped into a sandy trail winding between tbe lar ge busbes. Tbere are at least three trails in tbis section. and I lucked out and picked tbe nain trail. wbicb saved some time and moved me up a few places. AbOut two miles out. Jack Morgan. #l on a Hodalta. and Frank Morgan. also on a Hodalta. passed me in tbe rough stuff. We came to tbe second cbeck wbere the trail course brancbed ort to the right aboo t 100 yards abead, and witb so many takes tbere. it was dirticult to find '3 ews Dellt week) wash right behind J.N. Roberts. Did he teacb me how to bank those sides at higb speed? First time I ever saw aoyooe broad-slide on a 45 degree bRnk! Jack Morgan came in for the win witb Frank on his beels. Jack Froelick, #252 on a Yamaha. came in 3rd. and this guy can really move in a sand wasb. I ate his dust for tbe last 7 miles. and ended up witb 4th.
