Trophies and tribute were paid to tbe top ten local riders in tbe half. mile and TT racing divisions based on points gained at Ascot and Irwindale race tracks. Hosts were tbe MID board members. Ralph White, sammy Tanner, Neal Keen. Blackie Bruce and Walt Mahony. Over 200 people attended the annual affair tbat is the gathering of the clan for the last time each season. Special achievement awards were presented to Mel Lacher,Shorty Seabourne, Mike Morton and Larry Earhart. The awards came in dual forms of trophies and stop watches. Roxy Rockwood was master of ceremonies for the awards night that annually pays tribute to the top professional riders from Southern California. Motorcycle industry notables were on Mnd from Triumph, BSA. Suzuki. Harley-Davidson and Montesa along with many cycle dealers from the area that sponsored many of the riders in 1966. ,Also present were race promoters. Don Basile. Don Brymer and Jack Tice, the three promoters who will again host the vast majority of the AMA races in the area again in 1967. Additional special awards also went to the top tuners in the half mile division with C.R. Axthell.Gary Bray, and Jack Hardy taking home gold cups and jackets for a job well done. In addition to the many elegant tropbies awarded to the riders, there were also two dance contests, a fast contest for the new and younger riders, and a waltz contest for tbe older members present. The two winning couples also received tropby awards.
