Rid ers gathe red between 8:00 and 10 :00 a.m. at the San Fe rnando Valley • Har ley Sh o p in Van Nuys , who donated the usual coffee and donuts and the Swe eps ta ke s Trophy, The riders upon s igning in received color ful "Entry Ribbons" which entitled them to parti cipate in the games at the finish. and a map of the route to follow which had a number under the gold seal for Sweep s take Trophy, gift ce rtificate, • and gif t drawings. Shortly aft er 8:00 a.m, riders began to trickle away from the s ign-in tra veling north on Highway 101 alo ng the ocean, tben a right 'turn on Highway 154 which winds gracefully through the mountains overlooking the valley and ocean, then cont inuing down past Lake Cachuma, A left turn on Highway 246 and t hro ugh the .. " Littl e Denmark" village of Solvang , one of the mos t unusual communities of the United States established in 19 12 as a settlement for Dane s. A left tum on Alisal Road brought the riders to the finish which was held at the beautiful Nojoqui Fall s County Park, with an abundant area for motorcycle parking. FUN AND GAMES Upon arrivi ng at the park. riders found tha t the Ooloramas had ga mes to play -pin-the-tafl-on-the-donkey and a pinwheel for which they rec eived small priz es · · and kept them busy until trophy ti me. The hungry riders were se rved coffee, lemonade. hot-dogs. beans. and potato chips. ~ Upon check ing. riders drew cards for poker hands from their li cense plate and A.M.A. card numbers. The two Coloramas mop-up trucks were kept busy all day and after the eveots were finished, trucked two motorcycles to Van Nnys and two riders with their motorcycle to Torrance, through the courtesy of the club. After the meal. games and talent contest it was time for the Trophy Presentation. There were plenty of winners for everything as each entry received a goodie-bag . Over 200 prizes were handed out for the games, trophies . Gift Certifi· ca tes and gif ts to taled 30. The Coloramas M .C. would li ke al l part ic ipants on thi s tour to know that we • rece ived a very complimentary report from the Ranger at Nojoqui Fall s Park on behalf of all the riders and their conduct. The ACA bas been tryi ng ve ry hard to get another International Moto Cross before the end of this ye a r so tbe riders wlU have an oppor· tunity to ride with Torsten HaUman before be leaves to go back to Swed en, but on sucb s bort notice , so far our efforts have been fruitless. However, we are working on it and there is the pos s ibility we might be able to have a n event before be leaves; If we can there wiU be more information on this In next week's col umn. Road racing fans will also hav e one more opportunity this year to s e e the road race rs in action , this time on De c emb e r 11th oat Rive rs ide inte rna tional Ra ce way . Although th e course is not comple tely visible a t anyone point, the re are s eve ra l e xce llent vantage points wher e the s pectator may see road racing at its best. As mos t of you know . we ' ve only ha d the op portunit y t o rid e at Riverside onc e before this year, and naturally the ride rs are ve ry anxio us to ge t ba ck on this excellent co urse.
