Well, at lea s t three of the i r members threw it . Havi ng decided to put on only track events next year, the V.V.M.C. closed the local desert 1966 season by leaving all th e details to young Lo nnie Law in , Dal e F ergus on and Blll Bet hol d. Not an erncer of the club except J ay W illey was in attendance . The Sliv er City Sc ramble rs and the Groundshaker were well-represented, Ii ve of the first six tinishers we re Scramblers . Only 25 riders wen t of! the starting line at 9:30 a .m, Shortly after the dust settled, 100cc cha mpio n ride r Da nny Sromalla (who won a t Phoeni x last wee k) was seen walking back down the roa d hand in hand with Bobbi e Statlande r. Dann y had car bo t roubl e and ret urned to the pits for repai rs - 24 ot he rs got dust and Dan ny ge ts a girl - well! ! T oday s go was a little rough - four 17-mile loops . Ric k Miller devel oped problems with his A.J .S. , came Into the pit s , decide d to go back out , and had to s it an d watch flames end his e fforts (a nd cyc le) as a leaky ga s line caught tire. The spark plug fouling problem of the Lobito (Bultaco) seems to be cure d. Dal e . An A.M.A. sanction event , this wlll be the last shot at Vegas trophies for this year. T he eve nt s at Sunris e have drawn great inte re s t from all ride rs l oca l an d out-o f-state .
