• ODOM &THE PLAIN BROS By Patti Prestidge With over 100 riders and 750 spectators. Hayward Speedway on the East side of San Francisco Bay had a groovy TT show for everyone Sat· urday night. October 8th. Little Jimmy Odom came back to put on a fine performance after last week's fantastic win at Champion Speedway. Last week in the main event Jimmy got off in front of the whole pack at Champion. By the time he got his bike going again the bunch had passed him. but Jimmy scooted back through the pack and took the lead to win on the last straightawaY. A thriller to say the least! At Hayward Jim was on board .a fast stock Bultaco coupled up with one of the best tuners around - his dad. ·Pop· Odom. This combination put Jim in first place for his heat, the dash and the main. The expected winner of the Amateur-Expert tussle was favorite Davy Bostrom. winner of a good many Northern Calif. TT's. It was quite an upset when Joey Plain (who's had plenty of experience on this track during scrambles season) came on strong to show Davy the way, Joey (older brother of Jimmy) Plain. who rides for Chuck Cowles. really was wild about his machine. You could tell this was his trac k and nothing was going to stop his win. The TT shown here was promoted by Mr. Mel Selby, Rain cancelled the 100-lap Northwestern Championship TT. but it will be rescheduled in November. weather permitting.
