The will be enlarged, with a steeper pitch to \'lit the bikes in the air more. They shou ld put on a good show for the customers. Mrs. Vonna Raley made Jack a birthday cake and a feast of tamales and cake resulted. Donnie Dahlquist had all the riders present sign a birthday card and this was presented to Jack. At signup time Jack passed out souvenir ri bbons so all participants could take home a reminder. A grand total of 185 riders braved the Ponderosa course. Jack Morgan and his 1I0daka took first place laurels in the trail bike Expert Class. J. Baker and his trusty Zundapp copped first place in the ovice Trailbike class. The sort sand whoop-de-doos and the tall, steep hill in. the back section proved to be the hardships ofthe day for the small bikes. The open class found a puddle of water shortly after the start and proceeded to cover their number plates with the muck. But all in all the majority enjoyed the enduro section of the course. Rod Pack and his able Triumph rode to glory in name of the Viewfinders M.C. Rod was about fourth at the smoke bomb with Bob Me Laughlin on a Husqvarna in first. Oscar Thompson and BSA charged through with Jim Martino and bis Triumph in close pursuit. By the next lap Rod had worked past the others to tak e th e lead and keep it to the end, Jim Martino was Rod's only tbreat in the grueling 30 miles. Oscar Thompson closed the gap towards the finish and copped third on his moving BSA. Oscar had won this event at the last outing. Mc Laughlin and his very capable Husky took a hard-ridden fourth in the open class. There were 139 bikes in the open class and 72 finished. Of these 72 a total of 56 trophied. All participants and enthusiasts seemed to enjoy themselves in the various day's activities. Jack again hosted a fi ne event and mentions that there is going to be another on November 6th. The Tamale man will also be back for you south of the border gourmets. JIM ·Yogi- BAEHR He _anages ,our service at LONG BEACH HONDA 341 W, Pac. Cst.
