Restaurants, curio shops, motels and every other type of business became busy-spots as riders swarmed over the town. Scrambles. 5 p.m. found the cyclist at the City Hall for the judging of the beauty bike contest. After the winners had been decided, the riders headed for the camp grounds or motels. Many of the riders, who brought camping gear, found that More precision riding by the Ace of Clubs. roughing it in Mexico was really rough, so they took the easy way and laid down four to six dollars for a room in a motel. Several of the big bike riders found that the road leading to the camp grounds was not UP to U.S. standards and as they drove through the soft sand they dumped their machines. After heaJing complaints about the sandy road, the Mexican Tourist Bureau came up with another camp ground offering a better road. Ensenada provided plenty of night life for aU who wanted it, and it aIr peared that many did from the blood shot eyes io evidence when the riders met at 10 a.m. Sunday. Arriving at the City Hall, riders were presented WIth a distinctive silver pin for particiPating 10 the run. Then the riders lined UP their machines for a parade through down town Ensenada. The parade was quite a sight, as the Ensenada Police led several hundred street and competition motorcycles through the main streets of town. The parade ended at the city park, where the Ace of Clubs M.C. Drill Team put on a spectacular show of precision riding. The show started with two attracti ve girls doing acrobatics from bikes driven by two drJU team members. The girls were followed tlY an impressive display of precision riding by seven members of the drill team. The final event of the run was the trophy presentation, which was held in the park following the drill team exhibition. The trophies were presented by the mayor of Ensenada, Professor Hermida. The trophies were very unusual for a poker run and each featured the Aztec calendar motif in brass and copper. Trophy presentation was over at exactly 12:00 o'clock and many riders left from the park heading back to the U.s.A. Many others decided to stay behind and watch the second day of the Grand Prix SCrambles. Cycle News cameraman Dennis Greene shot 16mm movies of the run so participants will soon have a chanc~ to see themselves on the silver screen. (Results on page 16)
