"" - T'l' AT ANDERSON. CAIJF. New Model Preview IItITE -TORNADO· BLOWS IN ON THE SCRAMBLING SCErtE Recently Jack White of White International Corp. introduced his all new 1967 "White Tornado" 250cc scrambler. The modern square designed alloy engine is reported to produce 28.30 H.P. at 6500-6800 R.P .M. Along with a Bosch 6 volt magneto ignition, tuned exhaust, dual dampered forks, and roller bearings through out, the "White Tornado" should" clean up" in local competition. With a retail price of $695.00 this is one of the lowest price ready-to-go scramblers on the market. By Matt Randy At Miramar playground just off Hwy. 101, the Los Ancianos M:C. on sept. 11 presented a European type one hour scrambles on a 2~ mile course. Since the infinite variations of this course would require a thesis to describe. Suffice to say the course included uphills, downhills, narrow gullies, rocky up-hills, treacherous off-camber tnrns, potholes in an old stream-bed and large ripples in vast downhill sections. All of which proved the undoing of local crasher Expert "Useless" Ussery. Putting on a grandstand performance for the enthralled crowd of spectators, he was hauled off to the local hospital before the end of the 1st lap. The race then settled down to a duel between "Dashing" Dick Hanson, "Rapid" Robert Henry and Bonanza Zane Prather, who is questing for number one county gold with his new Matchless Metisse on its inaugural outing. These three were pursued by Pierre Raby and his new potent Atlas Norton. But, Dashing Dick on his immaculate Triumph persevered to hold on to the lead for the win. Bonanza Zane out-horsepowered Rapid Robert's trusty TR6 for second place. Pierre Raby had the misfortune of finding a slightly out of control Novice on a narrow section of the course with the result that Pierre found his foot between the shock and wheel, fortunately there were no broken bones. The 250 Novice, Amateur, and Expert classes were swept clean like a west Texas tornado by the Huskies as they came down from' the North. Marvelous Malcolm Smith and Husky captured the win in the Lt. wt. Expert class. We 111so hear the Greeves Wrecking crew are planning a trip to Gotham City in hopes of contacting the Dynamic Duo for some much .needed help. Main-Conlna, Calif.·135-5600 By John offsineer Twenty-eight riders earned trophies at the TT races on the onehaU mile track at Anderson, Calif. September 17th. The 60cc event was put away neatly by Mike Rockwell, Palermo, on a Honda. Second, was David Cherry, Weatt, on a Tohatsu. Third, was Tom Von Seggern, Willows on a Honda. Terry Hughes, Red Bluff, on a Honda really blasted the opposition in the Novice 90cc class. Second (on his first attempt at racing) was Tom Breckenstein, Orland, on a Hodaka. Gene Freize of Oroville (Honda) took third. Ron Harlan, Oroville, pushing a Yamaha took home the trophy in the Amateur-Expert 90cc class. Due to lack of entries, Expert Bob Vaughn, Oroville, and his 125cc Honda rode in the 200cc Novice division. The 200cc Bultaco's ate him up in the straight, however his superior riding skill more than made up for lack of power, and he tucked away number one trophy. Loren Boelman, Willows, on a Bultaco was second, followed by John Davis, Redding, also on a Bultaco. The Am-Expert 200cc trophy was put away efficiently by Harvey Crews, Salyer, on a Bultaco. He was followed by Bob Milligan, Red Bluff (Bultaco) and then by Dennis Chandler, Central Valley, on a Bultaco. Gerald Thompson, Redding, was the class hero in the 250cc Novice event. He rode his Bultaco across the line before Stan Ross, Red Bluff, Calif. on a Honda. Expert George McCarty, Red Bluff, Calif. on a Honda, had less power, but rode the inside efficiently enough to hold off the Bultaco riders in the 250cc Am-Expert races. Charley Thompson, Redding, Bultaco was second, followed by John Forman, Redding, Bultaco. Ted Robinson of Crescent City (Honda) was first in the Am-Expert 350cc class. Eureka's Ray Beck (Honda) followed him. Larry Reese of Montgomery Creek , .....,"') took home the Novice 350cc trophy. Gordon Septinelli, North Highlands, on a BSA, crossed the line before Redding's own Gail Talken on a Triumph in the 500cc event. The 650cc Novice class was won by Bruce Cox, Eureka, on a Triumph. Second, David Mumford, Eureka, on a Triumph. The Am-Expert 650cc was really a blast to watch, as Paul Knudson, North Highlands, on a BSA and Allan Boutwell, Chico, BSA really put on a show for the fans with Paul gassing across the line before Allan at the finish. Speeds of the night as clocked in the pits on a comparison basis were: 90's at some 55 mph 250's at some 70 mph 650's at some 75 to 80 mph Ie IeI1 II AMIt . . T.... Ilv Gene Dre..
