• SCRAMBLIN AROUND By Maureen Lee DirtDiggers Reject AMA Offer • lIere i the addre s for .I'our Corriganville Entry. DirtDiggers M.C.. P.O. Box 2513, uh'er ity, CaJifornia. Standard ntry blank required with an entry fee of 7.00. ee you there! From all that has happened since last Wednesday night's Special meeting between the DirtDiggers, the AMA alld the Disl. 37 club representatives, one thing is now certain. Corriganville is not goillg to be an AMA event. IL will be all ACA sanctioned scrambles with an Internatiunal profetisional and motocross event, open to professional rIders under F.I.M. rules. If you're considering entering the International class. you can't ride anything bigger thau a 500 as the points will no doubt be counting towards the 500 Internatiunal Mntocruss Championship. Not only that, you must have the correct license, so we suggest you contact the ACA office for information. Dist. 37 Referee and president of the club. Big things are under wa.y in the District, but one thing we must all try to r member regardletis of how hot we get under the collar with tbe AMA. etc., etc., for pete' sake gang, let's not throw the baby out with the bath water! Secede From The AMA? The DirtDigger • it appeared, had invited District 37 representatives to their club meeting chiefly to discuss the proposal that District 37 secede from the AMA and run its own affairs independent of the ational Association. It is not known whether this proposal will be accepted or voted down when it is brought up at next month's Sports Committee Meeting. In the meantime Cycle News will offer equal space so tbat both sides of the question can be heard. We note with approval that the AMA is now paying attention to local sportsmen are beginning to take a "ealty interest in the go"ernment of their sport. THE FINISH LINE By ROXY ROCKWOOD (714) 847-7629. • District 37 Sports Committee President Jean Carter and Secretary Bill Adams came to tbe meeting bearing the largest conces'sion that AMA bigwigs ha ve made to lncal sportsmen in anyone's memory--the promise of a double sportsman-and-professional sanction for Corriganville. This they believed waS what tbe DirLDiggers' grumble was about, the fact that the recent ban on professional riderti from competing ill sportsmen events. It would have prohibited, for example, Eddie Mulder, two-time champion of Ccrriganville. from defending his reco!'d. Carter and Adam:; could have saved .. their breath. Tbe rebel club bad aiready decided to reject the AMA offer. Posters advertising Corriganville as an FLM event were stacked around the room. Reasons for the rejection were the high cost and unreasonable demands of the AMA insurance company. the cooperation and assistance it was receiving as an international event, and a history of indifference to local problems on the part of our National Association. Tbe belated notice taken of District 37 and tbe DirLDiggers beefs was regarded '''' "too littlp. tno late" by Larry Reed. ............ FEE'I'S FRACTURES FOOT Fans of tI3x Chuck ("Feets") Minert will be sorry to bear he cracked a bone in his foot at Carlsbad Sunday. but they should cheer up to learn it isn't serious.
