Sunday's road races at Cotati raceway in Northern California were
notable mostly because of the steamroller approach of Suzuki to west coast
racing.

Suzuki's once-invincible 50 and
125cc grand prix racers are getting
dusted off regularly in Europe this
season. and perhaps the factory (or
US Suzuki Corp.) is trying to drag in
some of that good publicity closer
to horne.
At any rate. the Suzuki pit was
overflowing with blue and white
speedsters. including works 50 and
125 machines and a prototype production racer with an X-6 basedengine which may be sold as a competitor to Yamaha's rapid TD1-series
bikes.
The prototype 250 has a frame
patterned after the works machines.
and an engine which externally at
least. looks much like an X-6.
What's inside is anyone's guess.

Quoted Ron Grant. who was to ride
the new machine, as saying it wasn't,
Quite as Quick as the Team CutlassHoward Motors X-6.
After winning the 250cc race
handily. Grant was asked how the
bike ran.

prosperous fishing and shipping
center 65 miles south of the border
in the Mexican state of Baja Calif.
At a time when motorcycle events
being cancelled elsewhere in
U.S. because of sabotage by
"the element" t it is a distinct
pleasure to make the acquaintance
of a city official who knows the
score like Mayor Hermida does. He
is a ware that Tecate and San Luis
have suf(ered mischief at the hands
of the element, but the new Mayor
wants to help motorcycling erase
the black eye through which we are
sometimes viewed by giving us the
support we need to offset it.
