Too Tireds Too Tired • At a rec ent meeting, members of the T oo Tired Moto rcy cle Club could hardly must er the energy to make their way to the tab l e after an afternoon swim party at the San F ernando home of Herman and A nnet te Ly st er. P ot Luck was the theme and the emphasis feU on sa lads with seven varietie s and t hree variations of baked beans . T he T woTl reds are all vet eran moto rcy clis ts who hav e been active in road ridin g and hav e made si gni ficant cont ri butions t o th e impr ovement of the sport. Th e cl ub has a closed membership, limited to invitation only , with unani mous accepta nce by th e ot her members and a maximum membership of t went y . Th e maximum was reached within t wo week s after t he cl ub first organize d. Th e Too T ireds have no uni forms, nor do they require members t o att end the meetings which are not regul ar. Besides the social aspect of congenial companio nship, t he club exi sts to aid any othe r organized cl ub t hat needs and requests advi ce based On weU over a hundr ed ye ars of combi ned moto rcycle experience. Th e " Beez ers" are mounted side by side vi a a uni que jack-shaft coupling and is a fine example of mechanical i ngenuitY.On Joe l 's first run the bike was shut off well befo re the finish li ghts and still turned in the tw elve-sec ond bracket . In a second try he fell victim to speed wobbles and managed to maintain control. T he bike was l oaded on the t ruck for safety reasons , but will return to competition in th e very near futur e. Chuck's Triumph of 45 inches won the B Fu el class at I rwi ndal e. turning 10.87 E.T. and 132.54 . while E d McDonald' s Harl ey with its newly- crafted 90 inches won A Gas at Lions. Ed turn ed 11.87 and 108.04 . which is darned good , " ri ght off the t rail er ." WANT TO DO WHEELIES ? --First i stall a BARNETT CLUTCH Upset! T op Gas was a scene of sh eer embarrasement f or Harl ey- Davidson via the hands of Bruce Miller. when a mechanical gremlin crept into the works and allowed the gas Honda of L arry Gros sman to take home th e money and honors of Top Gas at Ir wi ndal e. Both bi kes had won their respec ti ve classes but not much hope was hel d for Grossman when t he bi k es were O the line. n Miller had t urn ed a f ull second fast er in t he class win and tha t 's a lot of distance for a smaUer machine t o try and better.
