Ed Sforzi ni ng won F s tree t at Lions turning 19.33 E.T. and 63.20 mph. He bought the Honda because its easier to spell the bran d name than his own. T he eleve n-turn , two-anda-half mile track is in an idyllic setting amongst the pines and lofty balsams of Washington's evergreen wonde rland. Organization matched the quality of the track. Motorcycles equipped with two-way radios at each turn , efficie nt pape r work, and a heads-up ambulance crew kept thin gs movin g, promotional ef forts of tbe sp ons ors brought out a thousand fans to watch the ra cers go •round. T he wee-ones started the day a nd tbe only question was who would follow the works Suzuki. Vail Hayde n was the one who followed Yoshio It o and his screaming Suzuki into second place. Th e co ncurrently run 100c c class went to Gene Hes s riding a Honda . Second race of the day was the combine d 125cc and 175cc went . Haruo Kos hi no was the man in this one aboard a 125cc water-cooled Suzuki twin with Honda-mounted Gene Brown in tbe place position. The 175cc gold went to Steve P eders on on an Ossa. Next on the schedule was the hotly contested 250cc rac e. As expected.. the re was a ding-dong battle be twe en Ron Grant and W alt Fulton Jr. on a pair of Suzuki . Grant finally did it with Fulton second ' and Dan P asznec ker thi rd on a Yamaha. In the 350, 500 and Open Class it was Haru o Kos hin o and his 125cc Suzuki a gai n. Walt Fulton and Ron Grant , s till on 250cc Suzuk i. were s ec ond and third in the Open Class . T im Coo per a board a 450 Honda too k the 500cc race a nd Bob Ben der on a 305 Honda did it to the 350cc class. Ride rs and spectators were very ent husiastic about the whole operation and a re lookin g forward to the next time . The oniy sad note was Dick Hammer' s bad fall i n Saturday's practice whic h res ulted in a broke n co ll a r bone . It ca n be truly said (wit h few exceptions) that a good time was had by all. 5
