The following are the results of discu s s ion of each of t he 11 points . 1. No deviation is rec ommend ed from the way it is bei ng do ne . C lubs co uld cha llenge in writing any dat e before the cale nda r is froze n for the year. 2. A representati ve can al ways table any motion so it can be take n hack to, and dis cu s s ed by , the cl ubs H it is that importa nt. 3 , T he committee fa vors this s uggestion . T he cl ubs s hould be abl e to dec ide if they ar e goi ng to to uc h the hi ghwa ys or not . 4. T he co mmittee co uld n't see any reas on for doin g this unles s it was confusi ng dur in g a co unt by s how of hands , 5. If thi s wa s do ne on every is s ue the meeunas would go on a ll ni ght and it is not neces s a ry on every issue . If it is for a n important issue, then a rollcall vote, is usually call ed for. 6 . F rom now on , no t rophy pres en tations will be al lo wed as it s lo ws mee tings down too much and the re is barely ti me to get all the bus in ess attended to . 7 . T his will be done. 8. Sti c kle Ambula nce ha s a four- wheel· dri ve veh icl e that will be available. A pro cedure will be dra wn up by the co mmittee and sent to the c lubs. The money for the ambulance will be held in the genera l fund and rep res en ta ti ves will be told later what will be don e with ex tra funds as they accumulate. Bill Ada ms rea sonably obj ected to the te rm "kick-back" used in t he lett er. 9, This sounds good but how would you go abo ut it? T here a re thousands of riders in the dis trict. T his yea r only about 30% of ride rs from the previous year applied for a number , s o if every ' one was given a vot e thi s would inel ude hundred s of ri ders who ha ve no co nsistent riding reco rd an d therefore coul d not kno w the real issue s in voting for officers. 10. AU dele gates a re gi ve n a look at the books . T hey are open for inspection at al l meetin gs . It wa s rec ommend ed that the trea s urers rep o rt not be s ubmit ted in writing to save extra work and possibl e ha s sles . It wa s not neces s a ry to make t he report publi c knowl ed ge. 11. Recommendation agreed with. Next came a roll-c all pas s in g the recommend ation t hat the a bove be ac cepte d as a whol e. During t he remainder of t he meeting, va rious other s ubjects came up, i ncludin g more discussion of the desert ambulance s e r vic e . T his grew a litlle heat ed as one representative asked who would ha ve t he authority to decide if a man was inj ured enough to move the ambulance . At the Lost Ange ls run a man had two broken ribs an d a broke n wrist a nd t he ambulance stil lwouldn't move out to get him. Jean Carter suggested that if a rider can be brought in a truck or on the back of a bi ke it is better to lea ve the ambula nce in the pit a rea in case a more serio us inj ury occurs, Anothe r rema rk t hat under the terms of the co nt rac t a n inj ury co uld be ve ry serio us and t he ambula nce s till wouldn't move unl ess the rid er wa s unc ons ci ous or had co mpound frac t ures . It was als o brou ght up tbat when a rid er ha s to be taken to a hospital (one of hi s ch oi ce) th e charge is 50¢ a mile . Spo ns oring clubs at desert eve nts must polic e t he pit a rea a fte r an eve nt to get rid of boxes , can s etc ., as th es e ar e left looki ng very bad at times . It was s uggeste d that e veryone tak e t hei r own ga rbage home so that it won't be so ha rd to clean up th e a rea a fte r an event . F or scrambles rid er s was t he Inte rmation that the la st tim e th e Committ ee was at P rado, some of th e rul es offe nders wer e dock ed fift y points for in fra cti ons . One rid er allowed a li tlle bike rid er to us e his bi g bike number plate, and t bat cost hi m fift y poin ts. Also , small bik es a re not allowed to ride in big bi ke pra ctic e. If cl ubs will tu rn in the rid in g numbers of people who per sis t in doin g . this , the C ommitt e e will tak e care of the problem. SHOULll CLUBS SPECIA LIZE ? T he meeting was ende d with the s uggest ion that cl ubs designated t he msel ves as eit he r scra mble s or desert orga nizat ions and vot e on issues tbat way. •
